The Agora is the biannual general assembly of AEGEE-Europe. The Agora is the General Assembly of the association, gathering 600-1000 students for four days. The Agenda of the Agora is composed of: - Plenary Sessions - Prytania (meetings in which proposals for changes to the statutes are discussed) - Workshops - Other Sessions (e.g. Progress Meetings) All proposals to the Agora and candidates for the various bodies should be communicated at least one month in advance to the Secretary General of AEGEE-Europe and to the Juridical Commission. These together with the other Reports are found in an Agora Booklet that contains all this information and other relevant matters.

WHAT IS AN AGORA? Being a highly dynamic association encompassing thousands of students across Europe , AEGEE holds fundamentally three statutory meetings per year. These are the European Boards' Meeting in Spring and two Agora, one taking place in Spring while the other one in Autumn. It is a duty for each antenna to send its own delegates to at least two of these meetings per year, as a sign of allegiance to the association and a direct way of contributing to the development of the same AEGEE. Agora Eskisehir is the Autumn Agora for the year 2007.

Vom 1.-5. Oktober werden auf Einladung von AEGEE (ASSOCIATION DES ETATS GENERAUX DES ETUDIANTS DE L‘EUROPE) 800 Studierende aus 40 Ländern nach Aachen kommen, um unter dem Motto „Visions for Europe“ über die Zukunft Europas zu diskutieren. Vorbereitet wurde dieser Kongress ein ganzes Jahr lang durch die ehrenamtliche Arbeit Aachener Studierender der lokalen Gruppe von AEGEE, dem größten interdisziplinären Studierendennetzwerk. Unterstützt wurden die Studierenden dabei von der RWTH, der Stadt Aachen, dem Polnischen Institut Düsseldorf und lokalen Firmen wie Drouven und Aixvox. Schirmherr ist, stellvertretend für das Europäische Parlament, dessen Präsident Hans-Gert Pöttering. Der Kongress ist gleichzeitig die europäische Mitgliederversammlung von AEGEE und soll die aktive Auseinandersetzung mit europäische Themen unter Studierenden fördern. Die Ideen, die während der Diskussionen und Workshops entstehen, sollen außerdem umgehend in konkrete Projekte umgesetzt werden. Inhaltlich liegt der Schwerpunkt der Veranstaltung bei den Themen Identität Europas, Europäische Bildungsgesellschaft, Globalisierung und nachhaltige Entwicklung. Well you all Know the AEGEE Agora, but what about the Greek one? - Under the holy rock of the Acropolis, near the Theseion metro station and next to the streets where the Sunday bazaar takes place, is the archaeological site of the ancient Agora. Since Agora means market in Greek, the ancient and the modern use of the place are not far apart. But, in ancient years, the Agora was not only the commercial centre of the city; it was its political, cultural and religious one as well. The administrative buildings and the temples were built in this area where the public services and the courts of law were also based. This was where the Athenians gathered on a daily basis, not only to buy and sell their goods, but also to learn the news, to criticize the government, to exchange views or just gossip, Socrates spent his days in rational debates and western philosophy politics were born in this place. All roads led to the Agora, and it was a lively, crowded place.
